Cave Creek Homes For Sale
At the northern end of the Phoenix Valley, between Black Mountain and Elephant Butte, lies Cave Creek has a charm like no other community in the area. Even with many new residents flocking to the area in the past few decades, this community has maintained its old west character along with a reputation for seclusion and affordability. Cave Creek, with a population of about 4,000, provides an ideal locale for many as it’s still part of an urban setting yet far enough away to give residents the feeling of countryside living. The town provides a bonus thanks to its higher elevation. Summer temperatures are often at least five degrees cooler here, making the outdoors more tolerable during hot months.
Variety of Lifestyle Communities
Cave Creek’s characteristics are upscale, urban, rural and residential, offering buyers many different communities, ranging from cozy condominiums and townhomes within walking distance to shopping that is perfect for retirees or as second or investment homes. Estate-style homes and large horse properties are on the north side of town, offering starry nights, spectacular valley views, and no light pollution. You’ll even find a planned community, Dove Valley Ranch, built around a golf course with the same name, offering residences of various types. Buyers frequently get more for their real estate dollars here, particularly with single-family homes. Cave Creek also has many undeveloped properties for sale, making the town an ideal place to build a new custom home. Popular neighborhoods include Hidden Valley, Rancho Manana, Tatum Ranch, Mesquite Ranch, Dove Valley, and Willow Springs Estates. Real estate prices range from $300,000 for smaller multi-family homes to well over $4 million for larger single-family properties.
A Mecca for Boutique Shopping
Residents have all the convenience of daily shopping in the town’s southern area, particularly along Carefree Highway, where you’ll find home improvement stores, grocery stores, drug stores, banks, and fast food establishments. However, the northern reaches of the community, where Cave Creek Road curves to the east, attracts locals and visitors alike with its boutiques and old west charm. You’ll find boutique shopping in several clusters, including Frontier Town, Las Tiendas, and Stagecoach Village, all with food and general fun. Try some of these fun stores:

Cave Creek Regional Park
This 3,000-acre park is a gem for anyone who loves exercise and fresh air. The Go John Trail is one of its most popular routes, covering six miles in a loop. The Slater Trail is half the distance for those whose time is limited. History buffs love the trails that go out to the area’s former gold mines.
Black Mountain Trail
Make sure you have proper hiking boots for this steep, rocky, 1.1-mile route that climbs over 1,000 feet. The trail is almost two-thirds of the way up the summit, so you’ll need to drive and park to reach the trailhead. It’s one of the most popular area hikes because of the scenic journey and the proliferation of wildflowers in season.
Spur Cross Ranch
This scenic conservation area has trails for hikers, bikers, and horse riders. Elephant Mountain is popular with seasoned hikers because of its stunning scenery. For an easier challenge, take the Metate or Towhee Trail. The six-mile roundtrip Spur Cross Ranch leads to the Tonto National Forest, allowing visitors to see bald eagles who nest there, plus big-sky vistas of mountains and saguaros. Visitors can travel beyond the three-mile mark but beware of the many washes that can be difficult to navigate.

Dove Valley Ranch Golf Club
You don’t have to head into Central Scottsdale to find great golf. The scenic Dove Valley Ranch Golf Club is as close to a country club as a public course gets. It has a near-perfect blend of challenge and playability thanks to designer Robert Trent Jones Jr., who built a series of bunkers to blend into the land. The course sits on historic land as the Hohokam people live here.
Rancho Manana Golf Club
Rancho Manana Golf Club features a par 70 championship course with dramatic elevation changes and unspoiled desert terrain. Amenities include a full-length driving range, chipping and putting greens, a golf shop, and a full-service restaurant. The Rancho Manana Resort features a European-style spa, a 1,500-square-foot casita, a massive outdoor swimming pool, and tennis courts.
