11 Things To Change Over Before You Move

Different office movers say, if you’re planning on moving to a new city, you might be wondering about the things that you need to switch over before the move. Throughout this article, you’ll learn more about what you need to change and who you should contact to do just that.

 Change Your Address

To notify the post office, you can either fill out the needed paperwork at your local post office or make the change online through the USPS website. In order to make sure that you get your mail, experts recommend that you fill out the paperwork at least 30 days before you move out.

 Utilities

As you move to a new city, transferring your utilities is extremely important. This includes electricity, water, gas, cable/internet, and trash removal. Arrange to have those services turned off by the end of the day on the day that you move out.

 Doctors

Before you move, have a chat with your current doctor and see if they can refer you to another physician in your new town. After you’ve picked a new physician, ask them to transfer your medical records over to ensure a smooth transition.

 Banks

Consider moving your funds and accounts to a local bank, just in case you ever need to make use of the local branch.

 Credit Card Companies

Notifying your credit card companies of your address change is very important, and can often be done online.

Employers

Give your employer at least a month’s notice that you’re moving, so they have enough time to fill your position. Also, your boss is going to need your new address in order to mail your tax information.

Insurance Companies

Contact your providers for health insurance, life insurance, car insurance, and homeowners insurance in order to switch the addresses. You may even have to get new insurances, depending on the company.

Landlord

If you’re unsure when to notify your landlord, go over your lease agreement well in advance in order to adhere to the time period stated. Be sure to notify them in writing and include the day that you’re moving out. Just in case, document the condition of the apartment so you can have the best chance of getting your security deposit back.

DMV

At least 10-30 days before you move, contact your local DMV so you can transfer your driver’s license and update your vehicle’s registration and insurance.

The IRS

The IRS needs your new address so they can send you essential tax documents and to so they can have it on file for tax refunds. Notifying them can usually be done online.

Church

Churches can often help you find a new church in your new location. Also, they can recommend groups for you to get involved in so you can successfully transition into a new congregation.

Whether you’re moving across town or a long distance move, moving is stressful. But, if you plan accordingly, you’ll experience less stress along the way. Soon enough, you’ll be able to get on with your new life in your new town without any worries weighing on your mind.

3 Things You Should Do To Prepare Your House For Viewings

Preparing a property for viewings is no easy task as anyone who’s ever tried to sell a home can tell you. Keeping your house in order once you’ve prepped everything is even harder, especially if you have children. Everyday life doesn’t stop just because you want to put your house on the market. These three tips can help you make the preparation part of selling your home a little easier.

Make Sure Everything Works

It’s time to think like a buyer, even if you’ve just gotten used to the idea of being a seller. There’s no one person who knows the good and bad of your home better than you. With that in mind, take a walk-through of your home with the mindset of a potential buyer. What buttons would you push to test things out? What oddities would make you cringe?

Develop a list of items that need to be fixed, changed, painted, or updated, as well as any accessibility modifications that are required and get to work. Ideally, you should begin making repairs before you decide to put your house on the market. However, if you do contact a realtor beforehand, they will be able to assist you with potential problem areas.

Stage It

There’s a certain art to staging a home in preparation for sale. Professional stagers get paid a pretty penny to help potential buyers see themselves living in your space, which is the entire point of the staging exercise. If you don’t want to pay that pretty penny, you’ll need to think like a stager and DIY.

One of the first things stagers look for in a home is the amount of furnishings. In many cases, they will remove half or more of the family’s furniture. This may seem drastic, but it opens up the house and makes it look larger, which is half the battle when prepping a home for sale.

Keep it Tidy

The other half of the battle is keeping the house tidy until it sells. Begin by controlling clutter. Organize closets, desks, counters, and tables, and make sure your family knows where to put things. Get help with vacuuming, dusting, and bathroom cleaning chores. All members of your family will benefit from the sale of your home, so everybody should pitch in. Above all, trust in your realtor and keep the lines of communication open. It won’t be long before potential buyers come pouring in.

5 Tips for Getting Quick Loans for Home Construction

There is nothing more surreal than drinking your favorite bottle of champagne in your newly-built home. But can this fantasy exist only in our dreams?

We hope not. Hardworking people deserve to have a taste of frill in their lives and get compensated for all the work and dedication they have put in for years. And that means, giving them a taste of their own home. And we don’t mean a rental but a home that you and professional builders built and designed from the ground up.

If you’re asking how maybe you haven’t heard of quick loans.

The obvious go-to is the traditional bank loans that take ages to process because of a bunch of red tapes and simply because they care too much about your credit score and credit history. However, quick loans aren’t called ‘quick’ for nothing. They are fast and are more lenient with eligibility requirements or credit score, also known as, FICO (Fair Isaac Co.).

Although quick loans are absolutely a quick route in getting loans, no foolish lender will hand you a huge amount of money on a silver platter. You also need to put in a little (or huge) effort to get approved.

Without further ado, here are 5 of the most effective quick loan tips to be able to build your dream home.

  1. Do Your Due Diligence

There are a lot of quick loan options out there. Each of them has their own pros and cons. There are also a lot of elements you need to factor in when applying for the right quick loan such as:

  • Interest rates
  • Loan fees and charges
  • Loan terms and flexibility
  • Attractive short loan term
  • Exemplary customer service

There are also several types of quick loans which you can take advantage of, each with their advantages and disadvantages as well. Some examples are:

  • Personal loans
  • Payday loan
  • Cash advance loan
  • Instant cash loan
  • Co-sign loans
  • Personal line of credit

If you have some digital assets like cryptocurrency, you can even take advantage of crypto-backed loans and put up your crypto assets as collateral. The main point is don’t ignore due diligence and extensive research. Google is a good place to start, better yet, get recommendations from friends or family.

  1. Creditworthiness is Key

Although most quick loans are considered as unsecured loans, that doesn’t mean you don’t need to brush up on your overall trustworthiness. The first impression you exude the moment you set foot on any quick loan office or the moment you talk to a quick loan officer is crucial. That can be a determining factor of whether you will get the approval or not. Dress to impress. Be professional and show that you mean business.

  1. Have Everything Ready

When you reach this point, I’m assuming that you’ve already done ample research about the eligibility requirements and the documents you need to submit for applying for a quick loan. Although various quick loans differ, some of the general requirements are:

  • Government-issued IDs such as driver’s license, social security ID, voter’s ID, PRC ID or passport
  • Recent income tax return
  • Birth certificate
  • Proof of billing
  • Certificate of Employment
  • Payslip
  • Current statements (banks, car loans, currently paid debts)

If you have every document you need close at hand, loan application will be more seamless when the lender asks for a certain requirement. This way, you’ll also save the time and effort in going to and fro the quick loan branch because you forgot one vital document.

  1. Collateral is a Plus Factor

Although most quick loans are unsecured loans that don’t require collateral, if you ever go with a more secured loan that is all about the collaterals, then you have to be prepared for taking the best and appropriate collateral option. If you’re not planning on defaulting on your loan payments, there is really no need to worry about losing the valuable collaterals you put up. Some of them can be car collateral, business permits, your insurance policies or the title to any real estate property you own. This gives the lender more assurance that you are creditworthy. In addition, if some quick loan lenders require co-signers, be smart about choosing who can co-sign for you.

  1. Thorough Communication

Excellent communication is always the key ingredient to foster a business or personal relationship. Quick loan officers might want to communicate with you at the initial phase, so always make sure that you keep your lines open. This way, you will be able to give anything promptly if they ask for additional documents as proof. And with quick loans, communication is something that’s crucial, so the trust will remain for the months or years to come while you’re paying off your loan. Don’t break that trust.

We know how owning your dream house can sometimes seem like an uphill battle especially with a limited budget. That’s why the great financial innovators and geniuses out there are always thinking of ways to make people’s dreams come true. These simple ways for getting quick loans for home construction will really go a long way.

Simple Preventative Measures to Protect the Outside of Your Home

In Arizonahouse prices have continued to rise recently, outstripping the national average. This may be good news if you’re thinking of selling your home. However as prices go up. so do the expectations of buyers, and it’s important not to get complacent about keeping your home in good condition. Whether you are preparing your home for sale or simply want to keep it running efficiently and retain its value, keeping a check on the outside of your home is essential. The exterior provides the first impression and curb appeal will always help attract buyers. However, as well improving the look of your home, keeping on top of external maintenance and repairs will avoid deeper structural problems which can damage your home and any potential future sale.

Roofs and Gutters

Water damage to homes from rainfall is a common feature of home inspections but can easily be prevented. Rather than waiting for water marks to appear on your ceiling, regular roof inspections will identify broken or missing tiles, signs of sagging or any damage to flashing.  Well maintained guttering is essential to divert water away from foundations and stop it from penetrating masonry or wooden sidings. Although falling leaves is not a big problem in Arizona, to keep them functioning properly gutters need to be kept clear of all debris such as birds nests or seeding plants which can cause blockages.

Protective Paintwor

If the exterior of your home has been affected by water, external cleaning can prevent or remove mold, mildew, algae from infiltrating wood in the home and causing more serious structural damage. A coat of exterior paint or sealant will improve the appearance of your home and it will also protect bare wood and sidings, not only from moisture penetration but also from the high heat and powerful UV rays of the Arizona sunshine.

Efficient Doors and Windows

A freshly painted door and sparkling windows help your home to make a good first impression but, if they are also performing properly, they will protect your home from extremes of weather, noise and pests and help regulate the internal temperature efficiently.  Weather stripping, putty and caulking should all be inspected regularly and can be easily replaced if they are worn or damaged.

Without good preventative care, it is easy for a home to deteriorate. By regularly examining and maintaining the outside of your home, you can identify and deal with potential problems early. This not only keeps your home running efficiently but also protects its value for when the time comes to sell.

7 Tips for Decorating Home with Antiques

7 Tips for Decorating Home with Antiques

Antiques or vintage accessories hold a very significant meaning to someone or even an entire family genealogy. The beginning of the new millennium in the year 2000 has given rise to various, unique trends in home decorating. And although people want a more modern, minimalist home design – some homeowners prefer decorating their homes with antiques for a more momentous atmosphere.

However, not all people who want to integrate antique furniture and accessories in their homes have a keen eye for detail. One misplacement can turn out to be an eyesore or different patterns can rankle the homeowner every time. You certainly need not enroll in an antique decoration 101 class nor achieve a Ph.D. in antique decoration. But you can certainly do these top 7 tips for decorating your home with antiques.

  1. Size Matters

This is the first rule in decorating your home with antiques: Always make sure you consider the scale if you’re planning on buying antique furniture or accessories. First, think about which room the antique furniture or accessory will go. You can’t just walk into an antique shop and buy an antique item because it looks good. You have to make sure it will also look good when integrated into your modern home. Let’s say, for example, you buy a piece of a small antique clock and hang it on a huge wall in the living room. Don’t you think it’ll look out of place?

  1. Be Careful About Mixing and Matching

Although it’s good to be bold when it comes to home decorating these days; when you’re dealing with antique furniture and accessories, sometimes they don’t look good together with other pieces of modern furniture and accessories. It’s good to add up patterns and textures for a more creative and lively feel – but keep it to a minimum. In addition, don’t be afraid to choose flamboyant colors for your accessories. One general rule is to pick one vivid color and start decorating with different hues of that color.

  1. Buy High-Quality Antique Pieces

The only drawback when buying antique furniture and accessories is that they could be remnants of wear and tear. But that’s what makes them special – enduring the test of time and permeating all memorable episodes in the past. Although they are more prone to damages by external elements, it’s very important to buy antique pieces which can still last through the next generations. Always remember that cheap doesn’t mean bad quality. An antique dealer can help you find premium pieces at affordable prices.

  1. Rustic Design Never Fails

Incorporating a rustic design together with your vintage pieces never fails. Say, for example, you can choose old black-and-white photos and place them individually in rustic frames. Or you can also take your heirlooms and place them on a rustic shelf. The advantage of going rustic is that because it’s based on a neutral color, it can go well with anything!

  1. Remember the 80/20 Rule in Home Decorating

The 80/20 rule in home decorating is quite simple and works every time. When it comes to mixing modern and antique furniture, make sure that 80 percent is modernistic and 20 percent consists of antique pieces. It doesn’t have to be all furniture but the remaining 20 percent could be smaller vintage pieces like a grandfather’s clock or an antique mirror.

  1. Make Them the Focal Point

The whole point of accessorizing with antique pieces is to make them stand out from the usual contemporary pieces. The placement of these pieces should make them the focal point in the room. There’s no use decorating with antique furniture or accessories if they just stay in the background. If you don’t have a good eye, it’s best to consult someone who’s an expert in this field.

  1. Make Sure the Whole Ensemble Reflects Your Style

We all know about these rules on mixing and matching modern and vintage furniture or accessories and although they are a great guide to piece everything together, don’t steer clear of your own style and preference. Your home is a haven you’re going to be living in for the rest of your life or your children’s – at least personalize it so it reflects your taste and lifestyle.

Now that you’re on your way to getting first dibs on those compelling and stunning antique furniture, make sure you adhere to these rules and you’ll never go wrong in decorating your home with antiques.

The Importance of Tidiness when Selling your Home

It’s got beautiful views and the perfect location. It is large, spacious, and has a beautiful garden. Why isn’t your home selling? The answer could be far more ‘insignificant’ than you ever imagined: it could be failing to make a good first impression because of untidiness. The average buyer is heavily influenced by first impressions, and they make a decision in a matter of seconds. How can you reduce clutter and help buyers feel like your home is a bargain they cannot pass up?

Getting into the Viewer’s Shoes

YourMoney.com notes that home sellers should try to place themselves in the purchaser’s shoes, imagining what the latter may feel upon entering their home. In order for buyers to ‘see themselves living’ in a home, it should be tidy, uncluttered, and, to a certain extent, depersonalized. Homes that are filled with memorabilia and photographs are meaningless to a person who could potentially call these spaces their own. Therefore, during sale time, try to reduce the amount of personal items you have and decorate spaces with simple items that are appealing to contemporary tastes.

Regular Cleaning is Key

Experts recommend that homes be vacuumed weekly (more often if dogs or cats live in the home) and that floors be steam cleaned every two weeks. During cleaning, de-clutter your home by eliminating old magazines, furniture, and other items that wrest from the clean, crips look that buyers crave. Storage areas like the garage should be light-filled and clean as well, with shelves and storage furniture being completely dust- and clutter-free. Outdoor parking lots should be clear of stains, oil spills, algae, and cleaning products. To deep clean outdoor spaces like car parks, terraces, and the like, use pressure washing until surfaces are completely clear.

Investing in Small Repairs

If your doors are broken, there are cracks on the paint, the home has mold or other severe dirt issues, or the carpet is old, home staging may be the best investment you can make in the sale of your home. According to Professional Staging, around 81% of buyers stay home staging makes it easier to see a property as their potential home, while 49% of real estate agents feel that home staging positively impacts the sale of a home. Staging may cost around $10,000 or more, but sellers note that it can raise a home’s sale price by considerably more (by around three times the price of staging). Refusing to mend basic aspects of your home (including outdated décor, broken doors and door knobs, dark or over-the-top furniture and the like) will make it very difficult for your home to look desirable.

If your home is on the market and you feel like it should have been sold by now, look into ways to make it look cleaner and less cluttered. If heavy dirt and mold are a problem, invest in professional cleaning or give pressure washing a go. Go a step beyond and look into home staging as a way to give your home a neater, more modern, light-filled look that will make it seem very inviting indeed for potential buyers.

Overview of Waste Disposal in Scottsdale

As a resident or business owner in Scottsdale, your home or business generates different types of waste throughout the course of any given year. Because of the varieties of waste, there are different ways in which these items are disposed of in Scottsdale.

In considering waste disposal in Scottsdale, there are different categories of disposables that need to be considered, including:

  • Regular garbage or trash
  • Hazardous waste
  • Recyclable items
  • Mattresses
  • Furniture
  • Appliances
  • Construction waste
  • Sharps
  • Biohazardous waste
  • Medications

Household Garbage Disposal

Basic, non-hazardous waste items are relatively easily disposed of in Scottsdale. These items are collected weekly by Scottsdale Solid Waste. These items are placed in a proper container, placed at the curb or in the alley, and picked up on a specified day.

The key to understanding what can be disposed of via regular Scottsdale garbage collection is not so much identifying what can be included in this refuse stream but making certain you are well versed in what cannot be disposed of in this manner. The remainder of this article addresses ways in which these other items appropriately can be disposed in Scottsdale.

Hazardous Waste Disposal

Households and businesses in Scottsdale produce hazardous waste that must be disposed of properly. The most common examples of hazardous wastes that have special disposal requirements in Scottsdale include:

  • Household cleaners
  • Paint
  • Batteries
  • Electronics
  • Automotive fluids

There are two primary ways in which to dispose of household waste in Scottsdale. First, a resident of the city can arrange for home collection of hazardous waste by Scottsdale Solid Waste. Scottsdale Solid Waste will pick up hazardous waste from the home of a Scottsdale resident three times a year at no charge. A maximum of 20 gallons of hazardous waste is permitted for each individual pickup.

Residential collection opens up the first of every month. Scottsdale Solid Waste will pick up hazardous waste from 200 households each month on a first come, first served basis. The months in which Scottsdale Solid Waste will do residential collections in 2019 are:

  • January
  • April
  • May
  • July
  • August
  • September
  • October
  • November

The second way to dispose of hazardous waste in Scottsdale is through the city’s annual drop-off event. The 2019 drop-off event is scheduled for Saturday, March 2, 2019, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The drop-off event will be held at:

Recycling in Scottsdale

Scottsdale has been on the forefront of the recycling movement for many years. To this end, a resident of the city can arrange for the pickup of certain recyclables on a weekly basis, along with regular garbage disposal. Scottsdale Solid Waste provides a special recyclables container to be used by a resident. Examples of items that can be recycled in this manner include:

  • Paper
  • Plastic
  • Glass

Scottsdale Mattress Disposal

Mattresses cannot be disposed of through regular Scottsdale garbage disposal. Special arrangements must be made with private contractors to dispose of mattresses in Scottsdale.

When it comes to mattress disposal in Scottsdale, there are two primary options available for mattress disposal. These include having a private contractor convey a mattress to a landfill. Although that is a lawful way of eliminating a mattress, the city of Scottsdale encourages a Scottsdale resident to take a green approach to disposing of a mattress.

With this in mind, there are specific firms that specialize in disposing of residents’ mattresses in an environmentally sound or green manner. Indeed, there are a growing number of private contractors providing green mattress disposal services to Scottsdale residents.

Furniture Disposal

Discarded furniture represents another category of waste that cannot be disposed of through regular trash collection in Scottsdale. This is not because there is anything dangerous about home furnishings. The issue is that this type of discarded material takes up a great deal of space in rubbish collection vehicles and landfills.

The city of Scottsdale and other organizations strongly encourage recycling used and discarded furniture. There are a number of community organizations that accept discarded furniture, including some that will arrange to pick up items of this nature.

Appliance Disposal

Special arrangements can be made with Scottsdale Solid Waste for pickup and disposal of appliances. Appliances like a freezer or refrigerator can contain potentially dangerous chemicals. Thus, there exists a hazardous waste element associated with the disposal of many of these types of appliances.

Construction Waste

Construction waste represents a disposal challenge. In Scottsdale, a recommended way of addressing construction waste, including that generated by remodeling, is to rent a private dumpster. Keep in mind that if you are disposing of waste from a construction or remodeling project, you will need to segregate trash. For example, you will need to make certain that any hazardous materials are disposed of separately and in the manner previously discussed.

Sharps Disposal

Sharps include such items as hypodermic needles utilized for such purposes as injecting insulin. Needles are dangers in and of themselves but can also end up contaminated by bloodborne disease.

In Scottsdale you can dispose of needles and other sharps through normal city trash pickup from Scottsdale Solid Waste. Disposing of needles requires you to place them in a unpunctured resistant container. Make sure the container is securely closed, using strong tape. The container must then be placed in a plastic garbage bag. The bag must be marked:

“Medical Waste, Do Not Recycle

Once marked in this manner, the bag can be placed in your regular trash bin for scheduled pickup.

Biohazardous Waste Disposal

Biohazardous Waste is defined as materials that contain potentially contagious or infectious substances. For example, items contaminated with blood or other bodily fluids are classified as biohazardous waste because of dangerous pathogens that can be bloodborne.

There are private companies that dispose of biohazardous waste in Scottsdale. These companies must have special certification to transport and dispose of biohazardous waste. You can make arrangements with them to dispose of this type of waste.

Medication Disposal

A big mistake people make is disposing of unused medications by dumping them down the drain. This ends up contaminating water supplies in the Scottsdale area.

Scottsdale has developed a program for safely disposing of prescription medications. The city has established disposal receptacles at different police and fire stations located throughout the city. You can obtain information about a receptacle near you by calling (480) 312-5000.

Scottsdale has taken great efforts to ensure that all of the bases are covered when it comes to safely disposing of different types of waste throughout the community. Not only has the city developed effective ways for disposing of different types of waste, Scottsdale has made it as easy as possible to safely eliminate all types of waste.

Design Your Bedroom To Make Your House Attractive To Buyers

The average American home buyer visits around 10 houses before deciding which one they want to call their home. As a seller, it’s vital that your home stands out—especially with the bedroom, one of the most appealing rooms in any house. If you really want to increase your chances of selling, you may want to look at perfecting the bedroom design of your Arizona home.

Building The Right Atmosphere

When showing your home to potential buyers, it’s important to recognize that what they’re really looking for, above all, is a living space—that they need to feel comfortable enough with your house that they can imagine living there. Since you can’t always know a buyer’s personal style, it’s best to leave the bedroom as a blank canvas. Let them use their imagination. Paint the walls in neutral colors, and try to remove as many distracting trinkets as you can. This will also help the room look less cluttered. On the other hand, you don’t want to create an environment that seems too clinical or sterile. Add a few touches of personality, like candles, flowers or paintings, but don’t try to make any bold statements.

The overall mood created by the design is also something to consider. The bedroom is generally a place to rest and relax. It shouldn’t feel too lurid, or too cramped. This can be a major detractor for buyers. Furthermore, darkness can also be quite disconcerting to a lot of people. Replacing dark, heavy curtains and setting up mirrors will subtly bring more natural light to the room, making it appear much more spacious and airy. In the evenings, use lamps to illuminate the room in a more flattering light.

Finding The Furniture To Impress

Although it’s a good idea to declutter, a bedroom needs furniture—the most important of which is, of course, the bed. If you have an old, worn-out bed, people are much less likely to be interested. One of the first criteria always on the list of any buyer is cleanliness, and a musty mattress is a glaring red flag.

If you really want to make the best first impression, it’s a great idea to find a new mattress—and it’s probably do wonders for you too. Did you know that mattresses should be replaced every eight years? It’s easy to forget, but it can contribute to asthma and chronic back pain. Many beds have been tested professionally, so if you’re concerned that your mattress is past its prime, it might be worth looking for a new one—to impress both the buyer, and yourself.

For the bed coverings, buy some fresh linen sheets, and make sure the bed is clean and perfect before any visitors arrive. You could also consider purchasing a few soft furnishings. A few tasteful cushions can go a long way in improving the aesthetics of a room.

Interior design isn’t easy, and it’s especially difficult when you don’t know who you’re designing for. The main idea to remember is that the theme of the bedroom should always be comfort. Make sure the house feels like a home.

3 Reasons Why Mesa is the Best Place for Seniors

If you are approaching retirement – you have every right to be excited. After a lifetime of work and dedication, it is time for you to relax and enjoy yourself fully. Deciding where to live is the first decision you have to make – and it’s definitely a big one – but with the help of the right real estate agent, you can’t really go wrong.

Each year many seniors flock down to Arizona to escape the cold winters of the North. These “snowbirds” return to their homes once the warm weather sets in, but why not make Arizona your permanent home? Specifically, Mesa, AZ is a place you should definitely be checking out.

Here are just a few reasons why Mesa is the perfect place for your retirement:

  1. Mesa is tax-friendly for seniors

For retirees, navigating the tax situation in your future home state ahead of time is key. Understanding your tax obligations will help paint a clearer picture of what you can and cannot afford when it comes to buying and living in a home.

The property tax environment in favorable for seniors. Property taxes are pretty low in Mesa, especially when compared to other metropolitan areas: it’s currently .87% to 1.5% of a home’s market value, while the national average for property tax is 1.9%. The state of Arizona also has tax protections on the books for seniors who own a home. For homeowners 65 years of age or older, the state’s Seniors Valuation Protection Law limits the amount of property tax that can be collected on a home to 1% of the property’s cash value.

Social security is not taxable in Arizona, so you can plan on keeping the entirety of that benefit once you start receiving it. Additionally, groceries are tax-exempt from the Arizona sales tax. This can produce major savings for seniors – who allocate a significant portion of their budget to groceries.

  1. Mesa offers community-based services for seniors

If you’re looking to make new friends or have a vibrant social life, Mesa has some community centers that provide an opportunity for relationships with other seniors, while also offering services to help make your life more easy in general.

The Mira Mesa Senior Center, for example, offers the following services:

  • Health and wellness initiatives, such as a daily nutritious lunch and Medicare counseling
  • A course on using technology
  • Education and advocacy efforts like consumer health legal advice and elder law programs
  • Recreational activities like square dancing, tai chi, gardening, bingo, and many other classes
  1. Mesa is home to many different senior living options

Although buying a home in Mesa is affordable, it’s important to remember that your next home should be one that you plan to stay in for as many years as possible. Your health and personal needs may change, and those changes may affect how appropriate a home is for you.

For seniors who want to maintain their independence and don’t need assistance with daily activities, an active adult living community could be a great option. These real estate communities are “age-restricted” or “age-qualified” so that everyone who lives there is at least 55 years old. As a bonus, 55-plus communities typically offer amenities like fitness centers, activities, and other social benefits. Just make sure you ask your real estate agent about a  homeowners association (HOA) fee in a given community.

For retirees who feel their health and mobility needs may change to the point where they require assistance, Mesa also has other senior living options. There are many different assisted living facilities in Mesa. These facilities have an average monthly cost of $3,250. Assisted living facilities are ideal for seniors who currently need or anticipate needing assistance with activities of daily living, such as medication management, bathing or general housekeeping.

When it comes to planning where you want to live in retirement, it’s important to have a real-estate agent. Several Ravenswood Realty Realtors have advanced training and certifications, and our goal is to get you in your desired home as quickly and as smoothly as possible.

Non-Negotiables for the Perfect Home Entertainment System

New homes mean new opportunities for Super Bowl Sundays, movie nights with your spouse, and sleepovers with the kids. Entertainment makes your new house more of a home. The average American spends over $2,600 on entertainment per year, and so much of this is overspending on expensive flat screens. There are a few subtle things that every home entertainment system needs to be great. You new home requires more than a flat screen with overpriced cable. You don’t want to be a waster, so here are three absolute essentials to make your home the most sought after entertainment location in Scottsdale:

  1. Focus on Quality Definition.

If you are still relying on your DVD player and surround sound, it is going to be hard to really take advantage of all the games, shows, and movies that are out there for you to enjoy. The first step is to get the most out of your television service. Image quality cannot be underestimated, and most people are tricked into believing it is mostly about the television screen when much of it is their satellite/cable services.

  1. Be up-to-date with your Streaming Services

You want to make sure you are all up to date on all your streaming services. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and HBO Go are essential for those on-demand binge-worthy shows and movies the family will all enjoy.

  1. Become an Expert in Sound

You could put speakers on each side of your television, sure. But you really won’t be getting even a fraction of the experience your system could provide. The truth is, speaker placement and quality matter more than most other aspects of a home entertainment system. In fact, 90% of films in general are sound! The experience of movies and television are largely sound-based and help hook you in to the emotions and plot. Speakers are the best upgrade any home entertainment system can want. You ought to become knowledgeable about frequency (low or high response), sensitivity (how effective the speakers are), and impedance (the strain on the amplifier). The trick is to know what to listen for when buying your speakers.

Consider the content first and how you are receiving that content, then go on to the sound. This is a sure-fire way to get the most out of your home entertainment system.
