Golf Year Round In Scottsdale

Golf Year-Round in Scottsdale

Arizona is known as a land of sunshine. With approximately 300 days of sunshine throughout the year, Scottsdale is the perfect place to enjoy outdoor activities. And one of the most popular pastimes for Scottsdale residents is playing golf.

Scottsdale and its surrounding cities are filled with gorgeous golf courses for every level of golfer. Whether you’re playing at the ASU Karsten Course in Tempe, playing a more high-tech and temperature comfortable version at Top Golf, or heading north to Fountain Hills to play at the Sunridge Canyon Golf Club, there’s a course that’s perfect for everyone.  Stop by the PGA Tours Superstore to pick up some fresh new clubs and cleats before you head out to tee time at one of these top Scottsdale golf courses.

TPC Scottsdale

TPC Golf Club

The most famous golf course in town is TPC Scottsdale, the home to the annual Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament. Every year, the Phoenix Open brings some of the top golfers and the largest crowds on the entire PGA tour into town for a weekend of fun, food, and entertainment. During the nights after the games, the course becomes home to the Coors LIght Birds Nest nightclub, and holds sold out concerts to golf fans from all over town.

TPC offers two major courses, the Stadium Course and the Champion Course. The Stadium Course well-known par-3, 16th hole is turned into a structure known as the Coliseum during official PGA tournaments. The Champion course is considered to be the more natural of the two, and takes advantage of the natural desert landscape the golf course resides in.

Troon North Golf Club

Located in North Scottsdale near Pinnacle Peak is Troon North Golf Club home to two 18-hole golf courses, Monument and Pinnacle, and the Dynamite Grille. This golf course is also nestled in the natural splendor of Scottsdale’s desert landscape, offering some of the most spectacular natural beauty on any course in town.

This fairway is perfect for golfers of all ages and levels, and even offers a Summer Junior Camp every year. Outside of golf, the course offers tasty meals at the on-site restaurant and is a scenic wedding location for Arizona natives ready to tie the knot in some of the most iconic desert scenery available.

The Westin Kierland Golf Club

After your game, finish up with a meal at Brittlebush Bar & Grille. Or, travel the course on some of Kierland’s most iconic transportation features, including the Segways, multi-seater golf carts, Golf Bikes, and the latest addition, the motorized scooter known as the TurfRider.

Talking Stick Golf Club

Talking Stick Golf Club

Just west of the Loop 101 is Talking Stick Golf Club, found on the Talking Stick Resort grounds. Talking Stick is home to two courses, the more angular of the two, and the Pippassh Course, favored by those who prefer a more straightforward game.

The resort, casino, and golf shop designs are all inspired by location and proprietors of the area, the local Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. The walls and indoor decor are inspired by Native American contemporary and traditional art, and take visitors on a cultural experience unmatched by anywhere else in Arizona. Be sure to stop by in the summer for some of the best weekly pool parties in the Greater Phoenix area.

McCormick Ranch Golf Course

Both courses, known as the Palm and Pine respectively, offer unique views of the surrounding mountains and have a number of lakes. Best Places To Shop In Scottsdale

Best Places to Shop In Scottsdale

Although Phoenix is the capital of Arizona, Scottsdale quickly takes its place as second favorite in the hearts of locals. Not only is Scottsdale the place to find beautifully designed homes, great school districts, year round golf, and unbeatable dining options, the shopping is what really keeps the people coming back for more.

Luckily, Scottsdale is full of great shopping centers. Whether  you’re looking for family centric fun or a night out on the town, check out one of these top four places to shop around Scottsdale and make the most out of Scottsdale’s retail and entertainment.

Scottsdale Fashion Square

Tried and true, one of the nicest indoor malls in the Valley is Scottsdale Fashion Square. Located near Old Town Scottsdale, this mall offers over 200 high end and casual retail stores within its three stories.

Shops inside Fashion Square include Forever 21, The Disney Store, and Ann Taylor. See a movie at Harkins Camelview 5 or grab dinner at Yard House of Thirsty Lion.

Kierland Commons

Kierland Commons Scottsdale

Scottsdale’s number one outdoor lifestyle centers is Kierland Commons, located on the west side of Scottsdale Road and Greenway Parkway. The Commons prides itself on their dedication to sustainability and social conscious business policies, while simultaneously providing a luxurious shopping and dining experience to visitors.

The stores at Kierland Commons tend to be more higher end than many other mall in the Valley. A stroll through the corridors will lead you to find stores like Anthropologie, Coach, and Tesla. Looking for a dinner? Try the local favorites North Italia, Olive & Ivy, and Postino.

Scottsdale Quarter

Kierland isn’t the only outdoor shopping center in town. Scottsdale Quarter, just across the street from Kierland, is another local hotspot. This shopping center also features national retail options, such as H & M, GAP, and lululemon athletica. IT’s also a great spot to bring to kids for a treat – have dinner at Grimaldi’s Pizzeria and top it off with ice cream at Creamistry.

Other great restaurants in the area are two Fox Concepts, True Foods and Zinburger. The Quarter is also one of the few places to find an Apple store. Not looking to shop? Pop into the iPic Theater for some movie magic with the family.

High Street at City North

Further north in Scottsdale is – you guessed it – City North. And the center of the retail lover’s destination is HIgh Street. High street is another center with store outside, but is less like a mall and more like a district. Located off the Deer Valley exit North of the Loop 101 and the 51 north, this center is just a stone’s throw away from many popular Scottsdale attractions, including the Musical Instrument Museum and the Fairmont Princess Scottsdale hotel. Bring your significant other for date night at La Bocca or Blue Martini Cocktail.

Commuting Guide to the Greater Phoenix Area

Commuting Guide to the Greater Phoenix Area

Phoenix is home to over 4.5 million citizens who reside in 6 major cities – Scottsdale, Tempe, Glendale, Mesa, Phoenix and Gilbert.

Commuting Guide to the Greater Phoenix Area

Unlike other highly populated cities, the Valley of the Sun is known for its urban sprawl. It’s in every homeowner’s best interest to find a neighborhood that works best for their commute, or to find methods of commuting that work best for them. Be sure to be on top of the best routes and neighborhoods with this commuting guide to the Greater Phoenix area.

Picking Where to Live

Scottsdale is home to a little over 240,000 residents and is a hotspot for families. Though located east and northeast of Phoenix, it is known as the “Most Western Town in the West.” Scottsdale offers tons of great school districts, housing types and a booming entertainment district. Best of all, the housing market is on the rise. Hop on the Loop 101 or Loop 202 to take advantage of the 30 minute ride to downtown Phoenix for a morning commute.

Downtown Phoenix, the heart of the Valley just off the 202, has become increasingly an popular area due to the growth of ASU’s downtown campus. With more students and workers preferring to live closer to Valley transit systems and work, the housing market in historic Phoenix neighborhoods has seen a sharp increase. Depending on the time of day and job location, commuters are looking at a 15-25 minutes commute by car.

One of the original suburb ‘pockets’ located West from Phoenix, Glendale was once no more than a mere stop on the way to Wickenburg along the US 60. Now, this bustling Westside city is home to over 240,00 residents. The city is comprised of a number of large neighborhoods, and is positioned west of the I-17 and east of Loop 101. That means Glendale is only a 20 minute drive to the heart of downtown.

Home to Arizona State University’s main campus, Tempe is both a college town and suburban escape. Three freeways run through or border the city of Tempe, including the US 60, the Loop 202, and the southern part of the Loop 101. This makes travel through Tempe to other major cities a snap, with a 25 minute commute to Phoenix and a 18 minute drive to downtown Scottsdale.

Mesa is often the first stop for many heading east. With a population of over 480,000 and a spread over 133 miles, Mesa is easily one of the largest cities within the Greater Phoenix area. The cost of living in Mesa is 5% lower than the national average, making that 30 minute commute to Phoenix and 20 minute commute to Scottsdale icing on the cake.

Gilbert is another one of the Greater Phoenix area’s idyllic suburban cities. Located in the east valley, Gilbert is home to a combination of suburban homes and farmland. The local school district is above average, making Gilbert one of the premier locations for families. Roughly 40 minutes from Phoenix but 30 minutes from Scottsdale, the drive from Gilbert is a breeze on the Loop 202 or US 60.

Choosing How to Travel

No matter where you live, it’s always best to have a commuting plan. Phoenix is laid out in a grid system, making general directions and distances pretty simple for commuters. And thanks to the many multi-lane freeways that run throughout the Greater Phoenix area, it never takes too long to get from one city to the next.

With a metro area so spread out, driving may seem like the first and most desirable option. If this is the case, commuters should consider investing in an ideal commuter car. Invest in a car that’s comfortable, fuel efficient and has a enough space for the whole family. In Arizona, 22.8% of household own at least one car – higher than the national average.

Public Transportation

The Valley Metro has a number of bus routes that can take commuters all across the valley. There are also neighborhood circuits that cost a dollar or under in Glendale, Scottsdale, and Tempe.

As of 2018, the US Census Bureau announced that the Phoenix metro area is the sixth most populous

The Metro Light Rail currently extends from the tip of Glendale at Metrocenter Mall and runs all the way to Mesa, passing through the heart of downtown Phoenix and Tempe. There are currently plans in the works for extending the lightrail all the way to the Cardinals Stadium.

Cities all across the greater Phoenix area have become increasingly bike friendly over the past few years. Scottsdale, Tempe, and Phoenix have all begun campaigns to increase bike networks, teach cycling skills and enforce new bicycle laws to encourage the use of bikes throughout the city. Many neighborhoods have even widened roads and added bike lanes to busy streets.

Whichever neighborhood, town or mode of transportation you choose, being ahead of the commuting game is any citizen’s first step towards living a happy life in the greater Phoenix area.

Whether you are buying or selling a home in any of the metros above, The Holm Group is here to assist you. The Holm Group represents both buyers and sellers throughout the valley. Whether it’s a custom home, luxury home, town home you can rely on The Holm Group to ensure a smooth and successful transaction. Google Mobile Friendly Again Finally

The Holm Group’s Website is ONCE again  Google Mobile Friendly

Google Mobile Friendly

Search On All Mobile Devices Now

So just to let the users know what has been going on with the development over the past six months.  We have been working to try and receive Google Mobile Friendly Certification and today we are proud to announce that once again our site is passing the test.  FINALLY

For whatever reason Google was blocking the way the images were being crawled and this was not allowing our website to be scanned properly by the bots.  So after working with multiple companies and 100’s of hours or coding we finally have fixed the issue and the site as mentioned is now passing the test.

The interesting thing is that users will probably not notice any difference as the site was running fine on all mobile devices.  Now that that we are passing the Google test we are curious to see if more pages start to index in the Google Mobile Search area and in turn we start to receive some more traffic for our efforts..
