Explore Phoenix Communities: What to Know

Phoenix is the fifth-largest city in the country, so it has a huge range of neighborhoods. Some are historic and close to downtown. Others are newer master-planned areas at the edge of the desert. This guide helps you see the options before you start touring.

Phoenix skyline and neighborhoods with mountains behind

Central Phoenix

Arcadia is known for citrus trees, large lots and views of Camelback Mountain. The Biltmore area offers luxury homes, condos and golf near the Arizona Biltmore. In addition, historic districts such as Willo, Encanto-Palmcroft and Coronado offer older homes close to downtown.

North and Northeast Phoenix

Desert Ridge and Tatum Ranch offer master-planned living with parks, shopping and golf nearby. Moon Valley is an established area built around a country club. Farther north, Sonoran Foothills and Tramonto offer newer homes near the open desert.

Ahwatukee and South Phoenix

Ahwatukee Foothills sits on the south side of South Mountain. It has many family neighborhoods, trails and easy access to Tempe and Chandler. Therefore, it is popular with buyers who want a quieter setting inside the city.
