Explore Tempe Communities: What to Know

Tempe is a central, compact city with a wide mix of neighborhoods. Some are close to ASU and downtown. Others are quiet, tree-lined family areas in south Tempe. This guide helps you see the options before you start touring.

North Tempe and Downtown

North Tempe is home to ASU, Mill Avenue and Tempe Town Lake. Condos and townhomes near the lake offer a short walk to dining and trails. In addition, historic neighborhoods such as Maple-Ash and the Borden Homes Historic District offer older homes with character close to campus.

Central Tempe

Central Tempe includes The Lakes, a community built around a series of lakes. Nearby, Tempe Gardens, Hughes Acres and the Kiwanis Park area offer established homes on tree-lined streets. As a result, central Tempe is popular with buyers who want a settled feel close to everything.

South Tempe

South Tempe includes Warner Ranch, Alta Mira and the Corona del Sol area. These neighborhoods often have larger homes and easy access to the Loop 101 and Loop 202. Therefore, they suit families and commuters who work in the East Valley.

How to Narrow Your Search

Start with your budget and commute. Then think about lifestyle, such as lake living, walking to campus or a quiet family street. Next, compare a few areas side by side. You can browse all Tempe communities and homes for sale any time, or contact The Holm Group for a short list that fits you.
